The Grand Hotel Taipei
Established in 1952 by Madam Chiang, Soong Mei-ling, the Grand Hotel is Taiwan’s first five-star hotel, standing midway up Yuanshan, nestled against Yangmingshan, overlooking Keelung River in the front, Songshan in the east and Tamsui in the west. The 14-story palace-like building, with its vermilion columns, gilded tiles and a magnificent, grandiose, regal and classic presence, is an embodiment of eastern aesthetics and one of Taipei’s representative landmarks.
Golden Dragon Restaurant opens Taiwan’s first 5-star Cantonese dim sum shop
To allow gourmets to enjoy authentic Cantonese dim sum at home, the Golden Dragon Restaurant has opened Taiwan’s first five-star Cantonese dim sum shop, named GD Mart. This new service, providing readily available star-rated Cantonese dim sum, features exquisite handmade creations by award-winning chef Yao-kuang. Gourmets can now enjoy high-quality Cantonese cuisine at home anytime they wish. All dim sum options available for takeaway are made with natural and fresh ingredients, including Cantonese dim sum classics such as the handmade Yuba Beef Meatballs, recipient of a Top 10 Famous Dishes in Asia-Pacific gold medal by the Great China Catering & Restaurant Association; the Submerged Rice with Lobster and Seafood made with stock that is carefully simmered for 4 hours; Turnip Cake with Cured Meat; Steamed Rice Roll with Mixed Sauce; and Spicy Cart Braised Dish. The shop also sells two handmade desserts, Mango Grapefruit Sago Coconut Milk and Mango Pudding, as well as two must-buy gift box options, Master X.O Sauce and Cantonese Sausage.
