Taipei Select – Nourishing Delicacies
This eatery was founded by Ms. Wang Yue-e. The braised eel dish, which has been sold for 60 years, is made following the cooking method the founder learned from her mother in Fuzhou. The golden eel is marinated in homemade red yeast rice, deep-fried to a crisp, and then soaked in a medicinal soup base simmered with angelica and cinnamon, resulting in a fragrant and flavorful dish. Braised eel, fried rice noodles, and deep-fried fish roe are a trio of treasures for a nourishing and delicious meal. The healthful delicacies of this unique eatery have warmed generations of diners.
Grandma’s Eel has been part of the Store Transformation in Taipei program, initiated by the Taipei City Government in 2015. The program aims to revitalize Taipei’s food and beverage sector as well as its traditional industries. By providing in-depth support, the program helps businesses transform and upgrade, ultimately shaping Taipei’s urban tourism landscape.
